2025 Medical and Pharmacy Information

We are thrilled to introduce that we have partnered with Maggy Pharmacy, located in Dannemora—just about 20 minutes from Camp. This partnership will ensure a quicker and smoother system this year. Maggy Pharmacy has been assisting Camp Chateaugay with short-term prescriptions, such as antibiotics, for several years and is known for their prompt service and free delivery to camp. Maggy Pharmacy specializes in medication packaging and labeling (“blister packs” — see photo) and offers medication packaging that complies with New York State (NYS) and Health Department regulations. The cost is $5 per medication, in addition to the prescription cost. There are no registration fees or hidden costs charged to families. This system allows for safe, efficient medication delivery by our nursing staff.

In addition to packaging compliance, NYS regulations require each camper’s health form to include clear directions (including name and dosing) for all prescription medications, supplements, and over-the-counter medications that will be taken at camp. For example: “Melatonin 10mg by mouth, 1 hour before bed.” This must be completed for every medication or supplement sent with your child.

FAQ’S

Please have your camper’s physician send prescriptions for all medications (prescription, supplements, and over-the-counter) to Maggy Pharmacy no earlier than 30 days prior to your child’s camp arrival – starting May 26th 2025. When the camper’s physician sends over the e-Rx please make sure that they indicates in the place in e-prescribing that says “Note to Pharmacy” that the Rx is for a Camp Chateaugay camper, so that Maggy’s can keep them all together.

Maggy Pharmacy should be easily found through all US and Canadian electronic prescribing systems.

Don’t forget to complete your camper’s health history forms in our new Camp InTouch portal, and submit the Camp Chateaugay Camper Physical Exam Form (Physician’s Examination). Completion of this form by the camper’s doctor is mandatory for attendance. If the physical exam was completed separately, please attach the physician’s note. (Note: The exam must be within 12 months of arrival.)

Insurance & Billing:

Maggy Pharmacy accepts most US-based commercial insurances, as well as Medicaid/Medicare for campers from New York, New Jersey, Vermont, and other states.

For campers without insurance and non-US families, Maggy Pharmacy offers competitive cash prices.

Packaging fees are billed directly to families and may not be covered by insurance. For questions about insurance or billing, please contact Maggy Pharmacy directly.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all our campers!
