The first time camper is a very important person at Camp Chateaugay. We pride ourselves on making sure each new camper develops new friendships, and becomes involved in activities which they will love to participate in. Whether it’s your child’s first time to camp, or their first time to Chateaugay, they will find it easy to meet campers with similar interests. Because we have such a wide geographic mix of children from all over the world, our campers are down to earth and very friendly.

 

Part of the teen program is our Big Brother, Big Sister Program. When the “Northern Lights Campers” (second oldest) arrive at camp, their first leadership project is to initiate a buddy system with the first year camper, and the younger campers.

Big brothers and Big sisters become great friends with new campers throughout the summer. These new buddies sometimes eat together, partner during evening activities, wave to each other on the path or have free time to talk about anything on their minds. Often this relationship is one that lasts throughout the years at camp.
